Well, today is Labor Day… aka the day of barbecues, anything red, white, or blue, and fantastic makeup looks. I personally love doing these themed makeup tutorials because it lets me stick to a theme and create a unique look for every occasion.
So, since today is Labor Day, I might as well teach you how to do your makeup perfectly for that barbecue or party you have today.
For those of you who do not live in the USA (hello *waves*), Labor Day is one day each year (the first Monday is September) where no one works or goes to school. I do know that some countries to a similiar holiday and if you would like to tell me about that then email me or comment down below.
This intro isn’t going to be as exciting as my other intros, but I can guarantee that you will enjoy this tutorial… I’ll work on my intro skills.
And with that being said, let’s get into the actual tutorial!
I decided to go with a red, white, and blue themed tutorial here (this could also be used for the Fourth of July). I just love pairing those colors together. Let’s do this:
What You’ll Need:
- silver or white eyeshadow
- blue eyeliner (or eyeshadow and a liner brush)
- red lip product of choice
Fairly simple right? You only really need three products (excluding your foundation, concealer, powder, or other products that are a staple in your beauty routine).
Let’s start with the eyeshadow. You can choose either a silver eyeshadow, regular white eyeshadow, or a glittery white eyeshadow. This eyeshadow is just going to go all over the lid. You could combine a lighter white eyeshadow on the lid with a darker silver shadow in the crease. It all depends on what eyeshadow looks you like. Some great white and silver eyeshadows are: Eddie Funkhouser Hyperreal Eyeshadow in Silver Lining ($4), StudioMakeup Soft Blend Eyeshadow in White Gold ($30), NYX Baked Eyeshadow in Snowstorm ($6), or Clinique All About Shadow Duos In Silver Lining ($15).
Now onto the blue portion of the makeup look. I love a good blue eyeliner. I feel like it looks surprisingly good with my brown eyes. You can do a winged eyeliner or you could just do the top lashline. You could also do both the top and bottom lash line. You could do some intricate eyeliner thing that takes hours to perfect, but it sure does look pretty amazing. I am a big fan of just lining my top lash line for a hint of color without going too crazy. But, if you love a big and bold winged eyeliner, then go for it! For the eyeliner, you could use a liquid eyeliner, a pencil eyeliner, or apply eyeshadow using a liner brush (and to make it more dramatic, you can add some water or MAC Fix+ to get it wet). Some great eyeshadows and eyeliners are: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner ($20), Smashbox Photo Op Eyeshadow Trio in Blueprint ($28), L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Monos in The Big Blue ($18), or Lime Crime Liquid Eyeliner in Lazuli ($14).
Lastly, I am going to talk about the star of the show: the red lip. I love a good red lip and Labor Day is the perfect day to showcase your favorite signature red lip. I especially love a good red lip gloss because I feel like glossy red lips look really classy. So, for this, you should choose your favorite red lip gloss or you could do a red lipstick with a clear gloss layered on top. It all depends on which lip product you like better. I would recommend using a lip liner because it helps. If you red lip wears off, then the lip liner is still staying strong underneath and your lips still look good. Some great red lip glosses are: Bite Beauty Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Apple ($22), Laura Geller Beauty Color Drenched Lip Gloss in Starlet Red ($19), NARS Lip Gloss in Eternal Red ($26), or the NYX Butter Gloss in Red Velvet or Cherry Pie ($5).
That is how you can impress anyone (including that attractive guy in your neighborhood) with your magical makeup skills. Feel free to give this makeup look a try and tell me how it went (check out the Come Find Me page). Also comment down below any posts you would like to see.
