Well, if you’re currently sunburnt, then this is the guide for you. Everyone is susceptible to the harmful UVA and UVB rays. And most people don’t apply sunscreen regularly when they’re outside or often forget to reapply as the days go on.
And you know what that means: you will end up getting burnt. I absolutely hate getting burnt because it is painful. Let’s face it, there is nothing worse than being sunburnt. I especially hate burnt shoulders because it hurts just to raise my arm (extremely painful).
After you get sunburnt, your skin barrier becomes vulnerable. So you need to treat your skin with gels instead of thick creams or lotions.
Cooling gels and light lotions sink into the skin more easily and work quickly to help moisturize and start calming your skin. My two favorite cooling gels are shown below:
You may have seen the Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Lotion on my Twitter. I absolutely love this product. It has little refreshing ribbons in it that help moisturize and calm the skin. Can we talk about the smell for a minute. I love the smell of this. It smells like a tropical vacation. The coconut papaya smell is amazing! It is also very moisturizing and sinks into my skin instantly (which is awesome).
The other bottle is the Walgreens Aloe Vera Cooling Gel. This is a classic aloe gel that helps cool my skin down. This one has a very strong methanol scent, which kinda bothers me, but it works really well. The great thing about this is that it works quickly and can also be used for other common issues. If you have a mosquito bites or a minor burn, you can apply this to it to help calm the skin and speed up the healing process. Aloe is a great natural healer.
So, next time you get a sunburn, remember this guide and try some cooling gels. Also, remember to reapply sunscreen every two hours or, if swimming or getting wet, reapply every 80 minutes. You certainly never regret it.
Have a fantastic day! #StayBeautiful
